Developing
a Personal Model for Online Counselling
The
Advanced Certificate builds on the basic internet skills and understanding
gained in the previous module. It is anticipated that students will
require 8-10 hours a week for this course which includes weekly
online group meetings.
Course
Members will work together in one group to consider aspects of working
online. They develop a personal model on which to base their counselling
using these group discussions, an online roleplay and online supervision.
The Course is lead by a tutor and an online supervisor. Course Members
will be encouraged to explore both individual, group and peer supervision
during the Course.
Course members will be encouraged, through group discussion, to
discover the online counselling equivalents for the sensory feedback
used in face to face work. They will consider how core conditions
such as empathy, warmth and genuineness are communicated online
and the significance and usefulness of online transference. They
will be encouraged to explore and evaluate the use of poetry, image,
sound and narrative as tools for online counsellors.
The
assessment assignment invites students to present their personal
model for counselling online which assimilates what they have learned
on the Course. Examples from their roleplay and supervision will
demonstrate how their personal online theoretical model is applied.
Students who complete the advanced certificate successfully may
choose to carry on studying for the Diploma - Module 3.
