What
is an online learning group?
Our
groups work together online by communicating over the internet.
We type our communications and send them to each other either
by email (which can sometimes take a few minutes to deliver)
or more instantly using our private groupboard chatroom on
the website (which is password protected) or the Messenger
chatroom. In the week before the Workshop begins, all members
will be encouraged to communicate with each other using email
and Messenger.
It is our experience that members of a group such as this
often choose to stay in contact after the Workshop has finished.
|
| |
|
It
is advisable that all participants are familiar with chatrooms
before joining this workshop. If you would like to have an
individual 20 mins. session before the workshop begins, please
contact Anne Stokes by clicking here.

What
equipment will I need?
You
will need:
A computer connected to the internet with Messenger chat software
already loaded (MSN or Windows)
|
| |
| If
you haven't got Messenger already installed, perhaps you know
someone who can do it for you and show you how it works? |
| |
|
Who is this Workshop for?
Any
counsellor or psychotherapist who would like to explore how
supervision works online and who would like to experience
being a member of an online learning group.
|
| What
technology skills will I need?
It
is helpful if you are a reasonably confident typist and familiar
with your computers software, emails and internet chatrooms.
The
Workshop requires you to move between different areas of the
internet your email Inbox, the campus groupboard and
your Messenger screen - and your computers Word software.
We believe this will be easiest if you minimise areas you
are not working in, keeping them open on your taskbar and
your computer connected to the internet. However, you will
need to check your service providers rules
for your connection. If they automatically disconnect you
after a period of time, please make sure you do disconnect
periodically during the morning so that they wont time
you out.
|
|
| |
|
During
the day you will be working in three ways:
1. On your own using your computers word software;
2.
In an MSN private chatroom sharing thoughts with one other
workshop member;
3. In the campus groupboard chatroom with the whole workshop
group. |
| |
| What
supervision skills do I need?
We anticipate that participants will already be supervising
or be contemplating doing so. We will work as a whole group,
and also in pairs as both supervisor and supervisee. There
will be tasks to undertake between sessions one and two (see
below) so it is important to allow time for that. A contract
for agreement at the beginning of session one, and details
of participants will be circulated beforehand.
|
| |
|
When
does it start?
The
workshop is held in two sessions during two days of one weekend.
